Inside Nakheel's Vision: The Masterplan Behind Dubai Islands

When Nakheel unveiled the Dubai Islands masterplan, it signalled a new era for the emirate's waterfront ambitions. Formerly known as Deira Islands, the rebranded development represents a total reimagining of what island living in Dubai can be.

The masterplan encompasses five distinct islands, each with its own character. Island A serves as the cultural and entertainment hub, while Island B offers a quieter, villa-focused residential experience. Islands C through E blend premium apartments, resort hotels, and wellness retreats.

Infrastructure is already well advanced. The main access bridges are complete, utility networks are operational, and the first wave of residential towers is taking shape on the skyline. Nakheel has committed over AED 15 billion to the development, ensuring world-class roads, landscaping, and public amenities.

What sets Dubai Islands apart from earlier mega-projects is its integrated approach. Rather than building residential towers in isolation, Nakheel has planned retail corridors, beach clubs, schools, and healthcare facilities from day one — creating a self-sufficient community that doesn't sacrifice connectivity to the broader city.
